July in Barcelona: The Best Events

🎭 Festival Grec (July – August)

The Festival Grec is Barcelona's major performing arts festival. Throughout the summer, the open-air Teatre Grec on Montjuïc hosts world-class theatre, dance, circus and music.

🎸 Cruïlla Festival (July)

🎊 Festa Major de Gràcia (15–21 August 2026)

The Festa Major de Gràcia is, without question, the most special event of the Barcelona summer. For one week, residents of the Gràcia neighbourhood transform their streets into artistic installations: hundreds of thousands of decorative elements hang from facade to facade, turning each street into a different world.

Completely free, open to everyone, and combining decoration competitions, concerts in squares, children's activities and human towers (castellers).

Right when Gràcia's party ends, Sants begins. Same spirit: streets decorated by residents, free concerts, all-ages activities. Fewer tourists than Gràcia, just as authentic.

Is it too hot in July and August?
